What’s a Stromatolite?:
Stromatolites are the earliest fossil evidence o f life
o n Earth. They were the first known organisms t o
photosynthesis and produce oxygen. They used wate r,
carbon dioxide, and sunlight t o create their food, and
expel oxygen a s a by-product. The example that I
have used i n this sculpture dates from a period i n time
some 750 million years ago.
