Seawatching 1

Tannya Harricks

Seawatching 1, 2026 oil and wax crayon on paper collage ground 42 x 51.5 cm

Last year I spent 3 weeks as an artist-in-residence on Fair Isle – a remote Isle between the Shetland and Orkney Islands. I walked almost every section of coast and spent hours looking out to sea or up at the magnificent Fulmar sea birds riding the wind – seawatching. This artwork is painted on collaged paper support made during my residency. It is a memory of place, time, weather. The sea and sky are everchanging. Between this, the land is a gentle blanket with a rich human history.
