Seawatching 1, 2026 oil on paper collage ground 42 x 51.5 cmLast year I spent 3 weeks as an artist-in-residence on Fair Isle – a remote Isle between the Shetland and Orkney Islands. I walked almost every section of coast and spent hours looking out to sea or up at the magnificent Fulmar sea birds riding the wind (seawatching). This artwork is painted on collaged paper support that I made during my residency. It is a memory of place, time, weather and the everchanging sea and sky. Between this, the land is a gentle blanket with a rich human history.
