'Soaring' emerges from my time spent at the Australian Wildlife Conservency and residency at Newhaven, northwest of Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory. From a helicopter flight over country, moving toward the distant Ngalurrtju mountain range, an approach that collapsed distance, time, and scale into a single, suspended experience. From above, the outback reveals itself not as an empty space, but as a dense field of markings, ancient songlines and stories embedded in rock and soil.
