Don't Know What We've Lost

Ray Monde

Don't Know What We've Lost, 2023 papier-mâché and collage 88 x 37 x 37 cm

This work is based on the form of a tulipiere; an extraordinarily expensive Delftware vase created to house single tulips when a single tulip bulb could cost as much as an apartment in Amsterdam. The vessel is decorated with the most endangered flora in Australia to make us consider the value we place on plants that are not inherently useful to us but may hold vital keys to ecosystems and the environment around them.
