I’m pretty sure 'Ákira' was destined for the garbage bin before I stumbled upon him. But there was something about his broken nose, dirty face and dishevelled hair that I connected with. I took him home and gently washed his face and kimono. His little rag body was floppy but his porcelain hands and feet were intact. He was fragile and beautiful all at once.
